Our Story
From a Boise side project
to a national platform
We're Matt and Will — two friends and engineers who love live events. Dionysus didn't start on the organizer side. It started on the attendee side: we wanted to build the best possible tools for people to discover artists, build their own schedules, and get more out of a festival than they ever had before.
What began as an attendee-facing app for Treefort Music Fest in Boise grew into the full platform it is today — ticketing, mobile apps, check-in, analytics — because organizers kept asking us to build more. We've now served over a million attendees across festivals, conferences, and community events nationwide. We built everything ourselves because we needed it to actually work on the day that matters.
The attendee experience is still at the center of everything we build. When attendees love the app, organizers look good — and that's the whole point.
What's with the name?
Dionysus is the Greek god of wine, festivity, and communal celebration — the original patron of the things we help power. We started in festivals, so it felt right. The platform has grown well beyond festivals since then, but the spirit of the name has always fit: bringing people together around something they love.
